This Cookie Policy explains the cookies, local storage, SDKs, and device identifiers we use on scanimart.com and inside the Scanimart Customer, Retailer, and Staff applications. It expands on the “Cookies & Tracking Technologies” section of our Privacy Policy, which you should read alongside it.

01What these technologies are

A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device so it can recognise you on your next request. Mobile applications do not use cookies in the same way, so we use equivalent technologies to achieve the same things.

  • Cookies — set by our website, for example to keep you signed in to the partner portal.
  • Local storage and secure key stores — used by the apps to hold your session token, your cart, and your preferences on the device itself.
  • Software development kits (SDKs) — bundled libraries for analytics, crash reporting, notifications, and payments that may read basic device signals.
  • Device and advertising identifiers — such as the Android Advertising ID, which can be reset or deleted by you at any time in your device settings.
  • Pixels and web beacons — tiny images in emails that tell us whether a message was opened, so we can stop sending mail nobody reads.

02Categories we use

Strictly necessary

These cannot be switched off, because without them the service does not work. They do not require consent.

  • Session and authentication tokens that keep you signed in between screens.
  • Your active cart and running total while you shop in a store.
  • The store your session is currently attached to, so scans are billed to the right mart.
  • Load balancing and basic security tokens, including protection against cross-site request forgery.

Preferences and functionality

  • Language and display preferences.
  • Your last-used delivery address for Scanimart GO.
  • Whether you have dismissed a tip, banner, or onboarding step, so we do not show it again.
  • Notification and communication choices.

Analytics and performance

These help us understand how the product is actually used, in aggregate, so we can improve it. We look at patterns rather than at individuals.

  • Which screens are visited, in what order, and how long they take.
  • How far shoppers get through the scan-to-checkout flow and where they drop off.
  • Scan success and failure rates, so we can improve product recognition.
  • Crash reports, error traces, and performance timings.

Security and fraud prevention

  • Device fingerprints and risk signals used to detect account takeover and payment fraud.
  • Rate-limiting counters that block automated abuse.
  • Records of failed sign-in attempts.

Marketing and communication

Used to measure whether a campaign worked and to avoid sending you the same message twice. We do not sell your data to advertisers, and we do not run third-party ad networks inside the Customer app.

  • Which promotion or referral link brought you to us.
  • Whether a promotional email or push notification was delivered and opened.
  • Birthday and personalised-offer eligibility, where you have opted in.

03Third parties that may set them

Some of these technologies are set by service providers acting on our behalf. They are bound by contract to use the data only to provide their service to us.

  • Payment gateways, which set their own tokens to process a transaction securely and to detect fraud. We never see your full card number, UPI PIN, or CVV.
  • Google Play services and the app stores, for app delivery, licensing, and crash reporting on Android and iOS.
  • Analytics and crash-reporting providers, for aggregate product usage and stability data.
  • Map and geolocation providers, used to detect the store you are in and to route Scanimart GO deliveries.
  • Email and messaging providers, for transactional messages such as invoices and OTPs.

Each of these providers has its own privacy and cookie policy governing what it collects. We are not responsible for their practices — see the Third-Party Links section of our Privacy Policy.

04How long they last

  • Session items — deleted when you close the app or sign out.
  • Authentication tokens — expire after a fixed period of inactivity and are refreshed when you return.
  • Preference items — kept until you change the preference, clear app data, or uninstall.
  • Analytics and security records — retained for a limited period as described in the Data Retention section of our Privacy Policy, then aggregated or deleted.

05Your choices and how to control them

On the website

Every major browser lets you see, block, and delete cookies from its settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent parts of the site — such as signing in to the partner portal — from working.

On Android

  • Settings → Privacy → Ads to reset or delete your advertising ID, or to opt out of ad personalisation entirely.
  • Settings → Apps → Scanimart → Permissions to revoke camera, location, notification, or storage access at any time.
  • Settings → Apps → Scanimart → Storage → Clear data to wipe everything the app has stored on your device.

On iOS

  • Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking to control app tracking requests.
  • Settings → Scanimart to revoke camera, location, and notification permissions.
  • Delete the app to remove its local storage from your device.

Inside the app

  • Turn marketing emails and promotional push notifications off from your profile, or use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
  • Revoke location access to stop automatic store detection; you can then choose your store manually.
  • To remove data already collected, see our Data & Account Deletion page.

Turning off analytics or preference technologies does not reduce your access to the service, but some conveniences — remembering your store, your address, or a dismissed tip — will stop working.

06Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

There is no single industry standard for how a service should respond to a Do Not Track browser signal. We do not currently respond to DNT headers. We do honour the in-product and device-level controls described above, which give you more precise control than DNT does.

07Children

Scanimart applications are not intended for individuals under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly set these technologies on a device we know belongs to a minor. If you believe a child has used our service, write to support@scanimart.com and we will delete the associated data.

08Changes to this policy

We will update this page when we add, remove, or change the technologies we use. The updated date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. Material changes will also be announced inside the applications.
